MHM Visits the Tall Ships in Duluth
Maritime Heritage Minnesota staff Ann and Christopher joined MHM board member Mike Kramer on 4 August 2008 to take a look at the US Brig Niagara, schooner Pride of Baltimore II, and Great Lakes schooner Madeline, three wooden-hulled replicas making a visit to Duluth Harbor during the city's Maritime Festival. US Brig Niagara is operated by the Erie Maritime Museum of Erie, PA, and is this organization's primary holding. Pride of Baltimore II is owned by the Maryland Port Administration and operated by Pride of Baltimore, Inc. of Baltimore, MD, with the ship serving as the Goodwill Ambassador for the State of Maryland. Madeline was constructed and is maintained by the Maritime Heritage Alliance in Traverse City, MI, part of a significant fleet of wooden boats either built or restored by volunteers.
